[ good morning, asgard. you are greeted to a singular video, which shows a rather chaotic room in the odin housing unit. it has a desk shoved in the corner, covered in a bunch of spare parts of some cannibalized technology strewn all over the place. but in another corner of the room appears to be something that looks a bit like cooler with a solar panel on it.

tethered to it is a little roomba that has a blinking light, and seems to be attempting to vacuum the place, but is continually yanked backwards by the confines of its charge cord.

and then, once the video shows what it seems to show, a text is also sent out to the entire network, simply stating: ]

READ THIS BEFORE YOU ASK ME SOMETHING INCREDIBLY STUPID:

(1) It's a solar powered generator. It generates something called electricity, which can power things we call machines. It can hold a pretty hefty charge, but it isn't very powerful. I can maybe reboot a battery, and that's about it, until I expand my operation.

(2) No, you cannot have one.

(3) No, I am not building you one.

(4) I'll let you charge your cell phones if, and only if, you bring me any useful garbage you collected when it fell from the sky a few weeks ago.

(5) I don't do delivery.

(6) Don't show up at my door asking to use it. There's a sign-up sheet in the front hall of the library. Go put your name on it and sign up for a time slot.

(7) Seriously, if you show up at my door without an invite, I am revoking your cell phone privileges, and I will use your outdated trash heap you call a smart phone for parts.

(8) You're welcome.

What's that round thing with the leash? Wait, you mean you can charge -- you can charge my Gummiphone?! Yes! That'll definitely mean I can get in touch with the others!

[There's probably something added to them or magic to make them actually work across worlds. So he might not actually be able to offer it around to everyone to call their friends and family back home. But still. He would at least have his pictures, and the hope, the possibility of knowing he could get in touch with Riku and the others.]

[ Steve takes a seat on a surprisingly empty chair instead. ]

I don’t have anything to charge. I didn’t have my phone on me when I got pulled here. What else are you building?

[ That gets a short laugh out of him. ]

We’ve known each other for about ten years or so. I’m sure he’s got a few stored up just waiting to tell people.

I've got a ton of junk in Tyr. I'm done with it so you're free to take whatever you want. I don't have anything I need to charge but I don't need the stuff so.

[ and, honestly, even when he is a drunk. thor is part of their bizarre superhero family, for better or for worse. ]

[ tony almost sounds impressed. mostly incredulous, but a distinct note of impressed in there. somewhere. ]

[ odinhaus is actually quite nice, and tony's room isn't as horrendously chaotic as the video made it seem. there's definitely an organization to the chaos... different piles here, and there, with the generator taking center stage. and when tessa finds him, tony is busy connecting a charge cord to the generator, which seems to be simple enough. ]

[ absently, as he disconnects what appears to be a shattered portion of his power suit from the generator, to make room for tessa to charge her phone. ]

Should work just like any other charger. It takes a minute for the phone to recognize the power source, but it'll work.

Don't worry, I'm aware.

[ For all his complaint and passive-aggressive conversations, Peter knows Thor's a good man. ]

Have you seen my band of superheroes? That slot is already filled. [ He doesn't specify by whom, however. ] But yeah, Thor's weird enough to fit right among my crew. Now if only he remembered I'm the captain, everything would be peachy.

[ that's a bummer, about the phone... but tony continues to pull apart some wires, talking as he works. ]

Laying out the groundwork for an electrical grid. Wind-powered and solar-powered electricity for the city.

[ keeping busy has always been tony's way of coping with . . . well, anything, and while he has enough self-reflection to know that he's doing this to avoid thinking about way worse things, he figures he may as well turn his anger into something productive.

and he inclines his head toward the corner, where his suit and the time heist suit are lying. ]

And trying to fix my suit, so I'm not totally screwed the next time a giant dragon shows up to kill us all.

[ . .. fascinating proposal. but: ]

He's emptying the floor of dust. Super useful job.

He helps clean up.

Because the battery has to charge, or else he's going to clean up about ten feet and then die.

[ he pauses, at the wording, before he clears his throat. ]

Not permanently die, but he needs to charge before I let him off his leash. It's a thing that needs to happen.

[ . . . right, claire is from the dark ages. welp: ]

I'm talking shit about Dustin because no one can possibly compare to Dave, who is the superior vacuum.
Wait until I add A.I.
Dave will cure cancer by the time I'm done with him, while Dustin is still trying to figure out how long his charge can hold.

A cell phone is a communication device. They sort of work like this network. You can call someone speak to them through it. They can take pictures and videos, too. You can store information on them. Pretty useful little things... and --

[ and tony glances over his shoulder, at the little vacuum, and he shrugs. ]

It's charging, he'll be fine. The start button is broken, and I can't turn it off. I just need to take it apart.

It's a vacuum cleaner.

[ easily enough, but at the second point, tony blinks. what the hell is a gummiphone??? it probably uses a micro USB, right? right... ]

-- and I probably have a charge cable in this mess of wires to charge whatever a Gummiphone is, so sure, it can probably work. But the network on mine doesn't work; something is still blocking it, so you might not be able to phone home.

[Robb does not stare in horror at the device. Absolutely not. Definitely not. And that’s not a sigh of relief that Tony’s just heard—probably just a gust of wind.]

So this is his feeding, then? [They don’t have batteries that need charging in Westeros, but they do have pets like dogs, cats, direwolves and dragons, and Robb has gotten surprisingly good at analogies since he got here.] How do you know when he’s finished? He already seems active enough to me, it’s hard to believe he can only go so far before he sleeps.
