Video; Where's The Laughter in Slaughter?

[When the camera gets turned on, the first thing to note is that Ivar's face is streaked in blood that has only just started to dry in places. Someone's been out worshiping with the natives in a fashion very familiar to a Viking. If y'all hadn't gotten the impression Ivar was a bloodthirsty barbarian from a bygone era, the imagery is definitely reinforced with the dripping red streaks on his face. Also is that some around his lips as well? Has he been drinking the stuff too? Honestly, though, he seems quite pleased by what's been going on even if everyone else might be disturbed by the casual slaughter of the cows. His tone starts off very serious, since worship is important where he's from.]

About time this place started getting some proper worship going. I know most of you all are from soft places-- [The scorn in his tone is obvious.] --but blood sacrifices are always the best when giving due diligence to these gods where I am from. Blood demands blood, especially if you want them to be on your side in battle, or to favor you at all. It's really not all that different then slaughtering animals for food, just with more rituals and rites to it.

[Then he switches back to his usual tone that ranges somewhere between insanity and half-truths end tends to indulge in.]

It's a good thing we finally got the right sort of animals around here. Otherwise, I might have had to resort to sacrificing one of you. [He muses for a moment before laughing.] I'm joking of course! [Beat.] Human sacrifices only work if they're willing participants.

[OOC: This post is for a general discussion, so feel free to have threads amongst all the characters and thread-jacking rather then just talking with Ivar. Do let me know if you do want a specific thread with him! He has rather...strong opinions about this.]

Yes. A mutual friend told me. I might also add you are so far out of his range that I am surprised he ever managed to win you over.

[Seriously, Peter is getting a congratulations and high-five on having such a badass warrior woman for a girlfriend from the teen. Ivar just wonders why she didn't crush him like a bug before getting to the point of courtship.]

I am. I'm a Viking and we live for a glorious fight.

[Ivar more then most. He'd never let being a cripple stand in his way of taking lives on the battlefield.]

He survived five minutes longer than my other suitors. [Which is true even if that's not why they're together by a long shot. Gamora is as intensely private as Peter is open. That is a good enough answer for now.]

I have never heard of Vikings before now. What planet do you come from?

[ragnarsson]

[That gets a genuine laugh out of Ivar. It sounds pretty accurate from what he's seen of Peter thus far.] And then won you over with his charm, no doubt.

[It was pretty much how Peter had become friends with Ivar.]

Earth. But from farther back in the past then most here.

He had his moments. [Carefully said!!! Peter has enough of an ego as it stands.] Earth? [She sighs in disappointment.] Too far back to know the legend of Kevin Bacon then?

Indeed he does. He can be exceedingly kind as well.

[He’d won Ivar over entirely by building a wheelchair for him. It had been one of the nicest things that anyone had ever done for him.]

Alas, no, I do not know that legend. Is he a hero of some renown then?

It is one of his best qualities. [The love is impossible to miss in her voice. She truly does think the world of Peter. It shifts to an almost childlike reverence at the mention of Kevin Bacon.] He is. Peter told me of his many legends. You should ask him to share one. They can be very inspiring.

I shall. Among my people, our tales are kept alive through our many stories, those of our warriors, great battles, and those of the gods. I imagine it is still much the same in the future.

If you keep up with me, I'd love to hear them. Stories from Earth are always a treat. [Except for when ratings get involved. Too confusing.]

Good. To tell a good tale is a skill well-worth possessing.

[It's also one of the few that Ivar will respect in other people that don't revolve around fighting, killing, or generally being tough.]
