Video; Where's The Laughter in Slaughter?

[When the camera gets turned on, the first thing to note is that Ivar's face is streaked in blood that has only just started to dry in places. Someone's been out worshiping with the natives in a fashion very familiar to a Viking. If y'all hadn't gotten the impression Ivar was a bloodthirsty barbarian from a bygone era, the imagery is definitely reinforced with the dripping red streaks on his face. Also is that some around his lips as well? Has he been drinking the stuff too? Honestly, though, he seems quite pleased by what's been going on even if everyone else might be disturbed by the casual slaughter of the cows. His tone starts off very serious, since worship is important where he's from.]

About time this place started getting some proper worship going. I know most of you all are from soft places-- [The scorn in his tone is obvious.] --but blood sacrifices are always the best when giving due diligence to these gods where I am from. Blood demands blood, especially if you want them to be on your side in battle, or to favor you at all. It's really not all that different then slaughtering animals for food, just with more rituals and rites to it.

[Then he switches back to his usual tone that ranges somewhere between insanity and half-truths end tends to indulge in.]

It's a good thing we finally got the right sort of animals around here. Otherwise, I might have had to resort to sacrificing one of you. [He muses for a moment before laughing.] I'm joking of course! [Beat.] Human sacrifices only work if they're willing participants.

[OOC: This post is for a general discussion, so feel free to have threads amongst all the characters and thread-jacking rather then just talking with Ivar. Do let me know if you do want a specific thread with him! He has rather...strong opinions about this.]

Bingo. A little planning and we can let them do their thing without worrying about them using us as the next cluckbeast with a head cut off.

[ Gaige nods along with her words. ] Better than anyone eating each other, so meh. Things could be a lot worse than them being thankful.

Yeah, see... I'm totally imagining right now the possibility that they could have been so thankful we showed up that they culled a few of us to ask for more right now.

So... yep. Counting my mixed blessings and wanting a wee bit more control. That's all.

Doubt it. They seem to be taking our cues.

And if people freaking out at Ivar says anything, that's not something they're going to learn.

They do, to an extent. And the gods seem to be letting us give those cues. I'm wondering how far that goes.

Yeah, we'll see. I might post up something after we've calmed down, see if anyone's down for a talk.

Given the fact the Gods are basically a bunch of aliens to mortals that don't get how we work, maybe we are more relatable. I mean, if they really are what they're implying, do you think about how - ants or whatever, organise themselves.

Here's hoping. But I doubt it. I mean, Ivar's got actual rules about something that they were obviously inclined to do by themselves and reasons why and why not. That makes sense over 'this is bad because I don't like blood', ya know?

That's a good way to think about it, and they're also damned new to this whole 'being gods over a bunch of ants' thing. That means they've probably got only so much of a clue how to do it in the first place, where most of us travelers have at least seen a society before... in theory.

Right? I don't mind Ivar's rules. Don't mind mine. But whatever gets done, it has to be over more than sanitation. Has to be at least a little thought to it...
