[When the camera gets turned on, the first thing to note is that Ivar's face is streaked in blood that has only just started to dry in places. Someone's been out worshiping with the natives in a fashion very familiar to a Viking. If y'all hadn't gotten the impression Ivar was a bloodthirsty barbarian from a bygone era, the imagery is definitely reinforced with the dripping red streaks on his face. Also is that some around his lips as well? Has he been drinking the stuff too? Honestly, though, he seems quite pleased by what's been going on even if everyone else might be disturbed by the casual slaughter of the cows. His tone starts off very serious, since worship is important where he's from.]

About time this place started getting some proper worship going. I know most of you all are from soft places-- [The scorn in his tone is obvious.] --but blood sacrifices are always the best when giving due diligence to these gods where I am from. Blood demands blood, especially if you want them to be on your side in battle, or to favor you at all. It's really not all that different then slaughtering animals for food, just with more rituals and rites to it.

[Then he switches back to his usual tone that ranges somewhere between insanity and half-truths end tends to indulge in.]

It's a good thing we finally got the right sort of animals around here. Otherwise, I might have had to resort to sacrificing one of you. [He muses for a moment before laughing.] I'm joking of course! [Beat.] Human sacrifices only work if they're willing participants.

[OOC: This post is for a general discussion, so feel free to have threads amongst all the characters and thread-jacking rather then just talking with Ivar. Do let me know if you do want a specific thread with him! He has rather...strong opinions about this.]

Maybe not, but it is customary to show signs of respect to them. This is a natural way to do so. [Ivar says this all in a very calm tone as if this is the the way the world works. Well, it truly is like that where he's from.]

Oh, it's easy to preserve meat. There's smoking, curing, brining, storing in lard, sun-drying...

[Better stop him at some point or this is going to start sounding like Bubba's soliloquy about shrimp in Forrest Gump.]

I suppose I should be happy that it's not conquering... [Muttering more to himself, the sound muttered as he drags his hand over his face again.] I don't suppose they'd enjoy things that we make [As opposed to destroying.] or having a party for them instead of us.

[This god thing is really complicated and he's really glad he doesn't have any religion to practice at home.]

Can we get them started on that then? Maybe? [Sooner than later.] I'll help.

[He heard that mention of conquering.] That is another good way to honor them. Take over another's land. Except there's no one to do it to here. [And boy, does he sound put out by that.]

I suppose they might with how much they seem to be favoring humanity at this moment. But blood is always best. [He will not be swayed on this.]

Alright. I'll gather up some natives to teach them as well. This is a valuable lesson anyone can learn. We can meet in Vænnstaðr park. [Ivar is likely one of the few that doesn't have trouble with pronouncing the names of the areas in Asgard.]

You could ask them if they want to expand the walls of the city but not sure if they want to bring the ever-changing outside in. [Though, maybe they can get a variety of crops that way?]

Is there even anything else out there than humanity to spoil? [They've had a few "aliens" here, but nothing native.

He nods even though Ivar can't see it.] I'll...meet you there. If I can get my stomach to settle.

Say, that’s not a bad idea! Mayhaps I will ask that of them next.

[See, this is how to curb Ivar’s behavior. Give him good suggestions that he becomes distracted by implementing as opposed to continuing his own bad behavior.]

Sure! There’s elves and dwarves and giants as well. [Or so that’s what his Norse tales have told him thus far.]
