Good meeting all! Turgon, at your service - it occurs to me that I have been somewhat remiss, and I apologise for that. However! As you can see, I have spoken to our hosts about assisting them with repairs after the recent attack. The native folk here have never built homes of their own before, and so I fear I have become quite consumed with assisting and teaching them, and neglected to reach out to you. So! If any would like to assist, we are doing quite well with the first house, and hope to eventually proceed to repair and rebuild the rest of the damage, with time. Please do come along and help, if you wish.

It could, if we had a good convenient forest for it, but the one we've got isn't in town and it's really kinda scraggly and overgrown, so not a good spot.

True - I get the impression, the longer we are here, that the natives are really somewhat... simple?

A little?
In truth, I hadn't noticed but they are pretty basic
Where I come from every one of the worlds we'd visit were usually populated by different kinds of creatures that were intelligent but only barely
They were all pretty simple-minded
So it never dawned on me that might seem odd?

I am probably the wrong member of my family to be talking about these, for I fear I am... er. Well. My family say I am a little... reluctant to engage in new things. [ They call him a stick in the mud. Lovingly ] I fear even in my own world I have not really had much to do with any folk other than my own.

It wasn't something we really had much choice in the matter on in the end
They were created to handle certain things in the worlds we were trapped in, more to serve a purpose than to be people
These ones learn though, so hopefully they're different?

Hm. I think they seem too... interested in learning to be mere tools. Perhaps this is ... truly just a very, very young world.

[mindseer]

It might be.
There's every sign that it is, and I've seen a couple really young worlds.
So maybe we're just tuck here helping from the ground up?

Hm. I would not object overly to that, excepting that I left my own war behind!

[mindseer]

As long as I don't actually get bored, I wouldn't mind leaving actual wars behind me too. They get old fast.

Ah, for me it is rather the opposite - I am, sadly, the current High King of the Noldor-in-Exile, little though I like it, or can actually do anything about it. If I do not return... my nephew is too young to take the throne, and my daughter is wed to a mortal and will not. I do not know what my people will have to do, if I am not there.

From what I've picked up most people have to get back
Sooner instead of later
I'm a little beyond all that
Being dead changes your perspective on things

[Snicker. She'd long made peace with it.]

No need to worry about me, but you hit the proverbial nail on the head.

Then I will hope that you have a good and long life here, milady.

That's the plan, one way or another
And if I don't I'm fine with that mostly
Like I said, once you're dead it kind of changes how you deal with it
Doesn't matter as much, if that makes sense

I suppose so, yet it seems such a grievous thing, no matter how often I hear such tales.

[mindseer]

You're a bit more sympathetic in nature I'm guessing?
For us, war kind of comes naturally even if we know there's a stupidity to it
So, the idea of us being wiped out or dead, it's not 'as' awful.
We just try to avoid it when we can
And I think for some reason or another, actually being dead helps a little
Or at least that's what Aradia used to say

Course, she's been dead a lot longer than most of us, years even!

I don't know that I would consider myself sympathetic, as such! But my folk grieve the Marring of the world, although we love it no less. Any life lost is a grief to us, for death is not something natural to our being.

[mindseer]

Ah, so that's how it is
I get it, though it's kind of hard for me to understand by nature
Trolls are violent creatures by their own blood
So it's the opposite to us
We see death as natural

But I've met enough not like that who aren't trolls that I do get it kind of.

For others, I suppose it must be seen so. [ He nods ]

It is... just ... a difficult thought, for me.

[mindseer]

Just different ways of seeing existence I suppose
Once upon a time I might mock it but I've seen a couple people that made it work sorta
Just harder to really understand is all
I imagine mine's not easy for you

No - but, as you say, it is the way of things.

It will be... difficult, but I will do my best to adjust.

Gonna be brutally honest here man
I'm probably the one who's going to need to do the adjusting here
This place is run by humans and they're not nearly as violent as a species as trolls
Even the assholes

That's as may be, but I feel it would only be polite to at least remember that your culture is different to mine, or to others!

You'll be a step ahead of most humans
It confuses the heck out of people when they deal with us most of the time.
But it can be hilarious and fun to learn!
