[ At first there is a mask - ornate and golden it's propped up against a simple tea set. Then there is a set of hairpins, a rather wicked looking weapon made from a dragon's tooth and then it swings up to bring Ye Zun into focus. He looks a little tired, and there is a fading scratch in the center of his forehead right between the eyes, but otherwise none the worse for wear. He gives the network a look and then huffs. ]
So. I had almost expect there to be a rather large amount of you having some heated exchanges about what occurred recently. Or at least some annoying chatter about doing things better, or at least vowing otherwise. Maybe have a little fit. Something. Anything.
But outright ignoring is not what I expected from any of you.
[ His lips curl and he fills a teacup, takes a sip and sighs. ] Honestly. Did you really think that we could have done anything at all once we were there?
And yes I am talking about the cave. I am not going to be silent and let others just wallow in the misery and what ifs of something we had no control over. Please forget things like 'we could have done something' or 'there had to be a different way'. How? In all honesty we are not capable of handling what was there. We have a great deal of power and experience in our hands. We are able to fight and fell beasts beyond our knowledge, but none of us are truly healers. What can we do against diseases?
Especially ones born from tainted magic.
Which means we need to figure out what to do in case this happens again. For it will happen; I cannot think of it not given how much more real we are becoming in the eyes of those realms outside of Asgard. The people of those places will start appearing more often, some with hope, a lot with disdain and I will bet that what happened in that cave will happen again, sooner or later.
So, for those of you who are blind to the energies of that place and what clues left in the cave, I will say this: it's not your fault. There was nothing that could have been done. It had been a baited trapped made by a vile act in order to kill and keep on killing once it was freed from the cave. Argue with me all you wish, but that is what I seen and felt.
[ He ends the feed with a flick of his fingers. ]

I think it would at least be prudent if we examined what went wrong and what went right... if anything at all went right.
video;
The disease was trapped in the cave and we did not unleash it into the world to cause deaths every where else.
As for what went wrong... something or someone was killed in there and that death poisoned the cave's magic.
video;
I'll be honest and say that magic is not my area of expertise, but how can you be so sure that's what happened?
video;
I am a touch sensitive to the energy of underground spaces and noticed that the energy surrounding us was sluggish, almost as if it had been wounded. [ He flicks a second finger. ] Again, the energy flows like a heartbeat, slower but still steady except it wasn't. There was a hitch to the rhythm as if something was shaking it off.
[ A third finger as well as a slightly wider grin. ] I followed what the people said and went to the back of the cave where I found a lot of blood, far more than what should be there. It also appeared that something was dragged from the pool.
video;
Really? I wonder if it would be possible to go back to the cave and explore or it it's been permanently sealed off.
video;
I mean that I couldn't feel any of the energies once they sealed the entrance.
video;
But I'm curious about the blood. It was all the way at the back of the cave?
video;
[ After all, he had been one of the voices for keeping it sealed. ]
Yes. Those half-orcs talked about it like they always expect some blood, but when I looked at it, it looked far too much than a ritual cut would make. The one was particularly unnerved by the amount.
video;
I wonder if the gods would be able to let us in there to explore with some kind of magical protection. That's probably going to be the best way for us to get answers.
video;
[ If only he could just access his dark energy here. Things would be so much easier. ]
Do the half-orcs have natural enemies? It might have been directed at us after all.
video;
video;
We should use this as an example of trying to prepare for more subtle attacks.
video;
Was this really an attack though? We kind of got ourselves into it.
[ Audio ]
I agree. We need a plan to avoid anything similar happening in the future.

[ And this here is a link to the map. ]

My name is Connor, by the way. I don't believe we've spoken before.

[ He doesn't actually have it in him to say any of the nicer things so just accept his humming agreement there. ]
I'm called Ye Zun and we probably have not. I usually don't spend a lot of time around most humans.
no subject
[ A pause. ]
Although, I am not human. [ A little bit of a lengthier pause...] And I suppose that implies that you are not human, either?
video;
After considering it a moment he replies, his brow furrowed in thought over glowing red eyes. The low, smooth tones of his voice seem carefully considered -- as if he's still thinking about it all even as he chooses his words. ]
A baited trap? Now that is an interesting perspective. Who would be your suspect? Were that magic to go free it would burn through this whole place, so someone would have to have quite the grudge. Or be immune to it, I would suppose.
video;
There are so many questions and those might be answered a little if we go speak with those people.
video;
[ They might not be. They also might not know anything at all. The only way to find out is to try, but other avenues should be tabled... ]
The sickness in that cave could burn through more than just Asgard and the home of our new friends. Were it free, it could destroy everything. Using such power is very high risk, and if it is deliberate requires quite the powerful grudge. I have seen it before, people willing to let darkness consume them. If you are correct, we could be in a great deal of danger.
video;
[ He was an evil overlord who could easily rummage through minds like an old lady rummaging through bargain bins. Having his access to his powers cut off is still a sore spot for him. ]
Yes. We are. But I think it's not going to occur to a majority of the others.
video
Dìdì. Have any of the others agreed with you?
video
[ His sanity could be questionable, but he did at least knew how to speak, at least. He didn't have the luxury of being a figure of authority like his brother has after all.
But that didn't matter. Not right now. ]
Gēgē. You should be resting; you look tired.
Re: video
I'm alright. May I come to your room?
video
You're always welcomed to come to my room.
[ And when he arrives, he would noticed that the challenge written on his door has been replaced by a ink wash painting of a mountain and Ye Zun's name written above the knob. ]
action
Dìdì.

[ He didn't need to knock; the door itself had no locking mechanism and Ye Zun wasn't inclined to actually make one (he had thought about it but what was there to steal?). He does finish pouring tea and as Shen Wei comes in, he gives him a look before sweeping his hand towards a chair. ]
I made some lotus cake and tea.
no subject
Please. Your lotus cakes are unparalleled.

[ It was said automatically even as he pours Shen Wei some tea and places a small plate of them on the table next to the cup. He settled down on the other chair, and gives his twin a nod. ]
Eat. If you're still hungry, I can always heat up some real food.
no subject
Aren't I meant to be the one taking care of you?
[It's strange, yet nice, and Shen Wei reaches for the tea first, soothing the worst of the scratch at the back of his throat. Patrolling as a human is harder than what he once was - he'll have to bring water next time. Setting the cup down, he looks back at his brother, searching for any lingering effects from the cave.]
How are you today?
no subject
[ He almost whines as he says that, his lower lip sticking out in a pout even as he refills his brother's cup. He knows where Shen Wei was coming from, but still, they were brothers. He could take care of him too. ]
You can take care of me tomorrow, after you stop trying to act like you're invincible.
[ They weren't what they had been before this. They did not have their practically immortal bodies or limitless powers. They were human and needed to actually take care of themselves. Sort of.
Not that Ye Zun looked like he needed looking after. Sure he was settled into his rooms like he doesn't expect to leave for the next few months, but he wasn't showing any real stress. Dying didn't seem to have bothered him at all. ]
I'm fine. You're the one that looks like you are working too hard.
no subject
It's difficult.
[A beat.]
Knowing what to do with myself here.
no subject
I know.
[ He takes one of the small cakes and nibbles on it, watching Shen Wei as he sips his tea. ]
There are a few things that we don't have. Most of us can fight but there aren't very many people who know how to teach or have a lot of simple knowledge. Maybe you can write out some books, or offer to show people science. Or even help with the building and planting or anything of that nature.
