I do beg your pardon.... has... has anyone seen Lord Peter and Lady Gamora?

I haven't seen them all day... but I don't know where they are and they didn't leave any note. [Which... isn't like her surrogate parents. But perhaps they eloped rather than trying for a big ceremony. Alice is trying to remain positive on the matter.]

If you see them, could you please let them know I saved them the sandwiches I made for dinner. [Alice isn't allowed to use the stove alone.]

[ It doesn't take too long for Chizuru to show up. Sure, it still takes a little while since she has to actually go over there, but she does leave right away after she shuts down the communication feed. It sounds like poor little Alice has already been waiting by herself for long enough, after all!

So she's there soon enough, and despite the door being open, Chizuru is still polite enough to remain in the entryway for a moment, looking inside with a smile and calling out. ]

Hello. I'm here. [ She wouldn't just want to barge in! She's not that rude! ]

[Alice got up and went to the door to go and greet Chizuru. She smiled and offered a curtsy in greeting before gesturing for her to come further inside.]

[ Despite the situation, she manages to smile at the girl. Genuinely so. Seeing Alice being so cute is enough to put a smile on anyone's face, she can't help but think as she follows the girl inside. ]

I actually have never been here before. Is this where you've been staying?

Oh yes, ever since the nasty snowstorm, Lord Peter let me stay with him and Lady Gamora. And my kitties too! Welcome to my home, Miss Chizuru! I'll show you to the kitchen so we can start on our sweets!

[ She nods. ]

Alright, I'll follow you. [ And she does! ] I didn't know you had cats.

I have three! And then Gamora has one. My kitties came to me when all those animals appeared in Asgard, and three kittens decided to stay with me when I completed a quest for them! And then Peter has a golden retriever named Thor! My kitties are Eclipse, Comet, Polaris. Gamora's kitty is named Nebula!

Oh, those are interesting names..

[ Chizuru isn't immediately making the connection though that they're all named after the same theme.. There isn't exactly a lot of knowledge about space during the time and place she's from, after all. ]

Did you think those up, or did you think of names together?

Well, Gamora named her kitty after her sister! My kitties are all named after things in space. I've never been to space to before myself, but I would like to.

[ Things in space.. That'd make sure as to why the names aren't familiar to Chizuru then. But it's the girl's last admission that seriously makes her look like her eyes are about to pop out of her head in surprise. ]

Ah.. Y-You'd like to? [ Going to space seems like such a Wild thing to Chizuru. It's probably so dangerous! Although she guesses maybe Alice doesn't have as much of a sense of danger, being so young.. ]

I don't know, I think so! It looks so very pretty! How hard could it be to go to space? Lord Peter and Lady Gamora are from there, so I want to visit where they're from!

Well, how difficult it is probably depends on the kind of place you're from..

[ Some people here talk about space as if it's such a natural thing, after all. As if going there is just normal. It's something Chizuru can't imagine ever happening in her own world.

And she has very little idea of what Alice's is like. ]

I don't think anyone has ever gone up there where I'm from.

That is true... But it must be possible! Jules Verne, he's an author, wrote all about traveling from the earth to the moon! So it must be happening soon, I'm sure!

No one has ever gone up there where I'm from either, just people in stories.

[ Jules.. Verne?

Chizuru is trying to think really hard about whether or not she's even heard that name before, but she doesn't think it sounds very familiar to her.. ]

Is that so? I wonder if he exists in my world as well.. [ Chizuru doesn't read too much, so it's entirely possible, really. ] Did you read his stories, Alice? They must be fairly difficult to read for a girl your age.

[ Considering they're about space and all. That's got to get technical. ]

Well, not ALL of them, he has a good many and they're not all translated yet. But I've read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in 80 Days! Father has read all of the ones though, but that's because he's much more fluent in reading French so he can. I can read some French but not the way he does.

[She pulls Chizuru into the kitchen, getting out the supplies they'll need to bake.] The one about going to the moon is called From the Earth to the Moon, I don't care for that one as much. It doesn't have any animals in it.

You can read a bit of French? That's so impressive!

[ After all, Alice still is so young. Chizuru is so much older, and yet she can only speak one language! She'd have a hard time thinking of even a single word in English or Chinese or any language other than Japanese..

It's a little embarrassing, but she thankfully manages to shove that feeling down. ]

And you can make cookies. [ She gestures at the supplies. Though this, at least, is something Chizuru knows how to do too. Thankfully. ] You're a girl of many talents, Alice.

Oh yes, but I can speak it fluently. Or, as fluently as I can English. [Which is to say, Alice is still going to mix up her verbs and tenses every now and then, she is, after all, only 7.

At the compliment, she blushed.]

Oh ah, well, I do wish to become a real and proper lady. My mother and sister know how to do all sorts of things. My mother speaks four languages! I don't know anywhere near as much as she does.

[tealeafs]

[ .. Wanting to become a proper lady, huh. It makes Chizuru smile softly. It's easy to interpret as just a fond smile - especially to a young kid - but there's actually something slightly sad in it, deep down. After all, that's exactly the kind of chance Chizuru herself never got to have.

But it's far beyond her to resent a child for that. If anything, it just makes her feel glad Alice is getting that chance. ]

You know what? I think your mother would already be very proud of you the way you are now. After all, you're smart and considerate, just as any proper lady should be.

Thank you, Miss Chizuru, I... I really appreciate that.

[She reached out and gave Chizuru's hand a squeeze.]
