North is where I’m from. Cold and colder are the seasons there. Even summer have snows.

[ Edd just doesn’t just talk about home. He complains about it. ]

Having no spring or summer-I can't even imagine that.

[A little snow is fine, but she enjoys the summer weather most.]

What'd you guys do for fun there?

Oh, we have spring and summer. The snows just melts lightly.

So we make snowmen and wager which one will melt first.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Bet the kids really enjoy playing that game too.

Stories about home, huh? I guess you mean.....where we're originally from? I traveled a lot. To lots of different worlds. But if you mean where I grew up and all, that's Destiny Islands. A lot of different smaller Islands, the main one being where we lived and went to school and all, and we had this other Island we went to play. When we were really little, our parents would row us out there, but when we got older we were able to do it ourselves. It's almost always great weather, and we swim and fish and stuff. I guess it's probably pretty boring compared to some of the other worlds I've been to but.....it's home.

[His family are there. And this really reminds him how much he misses Kairi. Having Riku around is great, of course. But it isn't quite the same without her here as well, to complete their little trio.]

Destiny Islands, huh? It sounds like place from a story. Like, you know, a bunch of pirates are sailing across the mighty sea, trying to get to Destiny Islands to bury their treasure. Or something like that.

[That is dope as hell, honestly.]

Sounds like you gotta lot of good memories of that place and-you traveled to other worlds too? How'd you do that?

I guess I never really thought on the name like that but. I have met pirates. One I liked more than the other but....well. we use the Gummi ship to get around between worlds usually. The first time I did it was different when the Islands were destroyed with the Heartless and all, but we helped fix things later.

[Honestly a lot of his answers might just bring more questions but he is trying. To explain. Sort of.]

She has to pause to catch up and suddenly her world full of daemons doesn't seem so exciting.]

[There's a lot to unpack here and there's another brief pause an she collects her thoughts.]

What are the Heartless? And what do you mean the islands were destroyed?

They're these -- well, usually smaller, almost kinda cute little creatures, but they kinda do what their name implies. Steal hearts. From people and worlds. They took the heart of my home, that's why it was destroyed back then.

[It is a lot. And barely the start of Sora's story, really. He could go into a lot more, but he figures bare basics would do for now. In trying to explain a little about his home where he grew up.]

❰ the voice is quiet, on the wary end of flat-toned - and probably all the more familiar for it, even as short as the answer might be. ❱

Finland.

Come on, don't hold on me.

[The soft voice is familiar and she recognizes it easily as the kid in the tree. The one who offered her water and kept her company for some time.]

Did you have a favorite place in Finland? Like, I don't know-a beach or a city or maybe your favorite store?

That's not what you asked. ❰ it's almost bored-sounding this time, not helped by the bracing sigh that follows. but then she does, indeed, get the answers she seeks. ❱

The lake had a little island. Shallow water from there to shore. You could walk there. Nobody ever did.

It was... quiet.

[You know what? That's valid. Not everyone is going to go into depth about their world or life without some kind of prodding. The point is, she's asking now and she's getting some answers out of him.]

Peace and quiet is nice every once in awhile. That's for sure. Oh, do you like to fish out at the lake too? I know another guy who's-

[Obsessed, is one way to describe it. Maybe.]

Fished once in a while, to eat. ❰ is that close enough? ❱ Not since I was young, though.

Most recently, Maryland. Yourself?

Eos. It's a really beautiful world.

[She could go on and on about how things were before darkness started creeping up on everything.]

Can't say I've heard of Maryland. What was your favorite part of that place?

The location, I suppose. I lived in the city of Baltimore, close enough to shops and establishments of interest that I could visit easily, yet still near enough to the ocean and the wilderness that when I wished for time away from civilization, I could have it without much fuss.

[ Florence, of course, is much better. Maryland pales in comparison. ]

What is it that you liked most about Eos?

Sounds like where we live now. It's near a huuuuuge city called Lestallum, but we're further down the road-it's way quieter and you get to look out at the ocean whenever you want. There's even a lighthouse and a grumpy old cat. Sometimes the merchants even stop out front, so you don't have to go far to get supplies.

[Granted they're in that place to begin with because of the destruction of her real home. She's lucky though. A lot of the previous residents of Crown City don't have the luxuries she does.]

I love all of it, except for the daemons. [And a certain war mongering country.] But the hunters are taking care of that.

'Home' is not a place for me, I used to travel a whole lot around the galaxy. So my home was my team.

[Home is where the heart is and she understands the general discontent that comes from being uprooted. Caem became a home, but it took awhile for it to get to that point and she doesn't know how much longer that'll last.

But no matter what, she has Gladdy. She has Talcott and remaining crownsguard members-they can always create a new home. So she gets it.]

I think it's great you found a home with people you care about. Soooo why don't you tell me about them? Where's the coolest place you traveled to together?

It wasn't easy at first, we pretty much tried to kill each other and ended in prison. it was a surprisingly bonding experience. [ If a little messy. Peter could have gone without so much violence and people trying to skin him. ]

They're quite the varied lot, I'm the only human. As for the coolest place, it's so hard to choose. We travel all over the Galaxy.

[ Knowhere was pretty cool before things started to go to hell but after what happened with Gamora and Thanos there, Peter has only sour memories of the place. ]

Hey, let's back up a little-prison?

[The little bit of insight she's getting into this guy's life with that seemingly innocent question is unexpected. One that she's trying to keep up with. Suddenly not everyone's human, there's a prison, galactic travel and potential murder-that's a novella in the making.]

Why were you trying to kill each other?

Detroit, Michigan. What is the name of your home town, Miss...?

[ She hadn't offered a name, after all. ]

[Crown City or what remains of it.]

A world called Eos. Right now I live in a place called Cape Caem. It's sort of a temporary home, but a home all the same.

Sooo you know you gotta tell me about Detroit now, right? What's it like?

My name is Connor. It's nice to meet you.

Detroit is located on the west side of the state of Michigan, which borders the United State-Canada border. With a population of 1.2 million people, it ranks as one of the most populated cities in the country. It's world-famous for manufacturing androids and has been called the “android city”. However, it is also famous for its influences in the music and automotive industries.

[ Because that's what you were asking, right, Iris? ]

Very funny.

[And she does sound amused by that response. It's a different answer, that's for sure. It's hard to tell if he's actually joking or if he thinks that wikipedia-esque is what she truly wanted to hear.]

Android city though-sounds pretty advanced.

[Niflheim's enacted some android-ish fighters of their own, so she's not unfamiliar with the concept.]

Did you like it there?

[ He gives a thoughtful pause. ]

I believe so. It's the only city I've been to. I don't have any other experience to compare.

Home is with my family. It isn't a place for me. [The question makes her feel vulnerable, but she likes it all the same.] Where do you come from?

You too, huh? You gotta tell me about them. Do you have an older brother? Or a sister? Maybe a super cool aunt?

[She's had a other people mention that and it's heartwarming. Family is important.]

And I'm from Eos. It's a pretty neat world. There's all kinds of sights and towns-it's huge!

[And one that'll get better. The darkness won't last forever-she believes it.]

I have a sister, but she isn't travelling with us. [The regret is clear in her voice.] I travel with my friends and my partner. One of them is like a son to us.

[Another thing that makes her sad so switches tracks quickly.] I haven't heard of your planet before. Perhaps we'll see it someday. It sounds like somewhere we'd enjoy.

Uh, don't know if it's homesic, but I sure as hell miss shooting stuff all the time.

Oh, are you some kind of hunter?

[There's a particular group in her world known for daemon hunting and she's sure there's a few in there that enjoy it more than others. This girl may be the same way.]

Yeap. Vault Hunter. Though vaults... they're more like treasure troves.

The real treasure is the slaughter we leave in our path as we find them, I guess you could say.

I'm from Oxford, England! Have you ever heard of it, miss?

No, I haven't. Wish I could say I did. Guess that means you gotta tell me about it-what's it like?

Oh, it's simply beautiful! There are sorts of meadows and fields and trees all around, and there's Oxford University, it's one of the oldest universities in Europe! The university is massive as well! You could very easily get lost in it! That's where I live, actually, the university. I'm not a student, though, my father is the Vice-Chancellor there so we live in the housing they provide there!

[The girl's excitement is contagious and Iris is trying to recreate the vivid image in her mind. Sounds like a calm, nice place to live. A University would be fun, especially if you didn't have to study.]

Wow, that sounds so cool. Bet there's lots of sights to see in a place like that. Have you lived there your whole life?

Oh yes, well, at least... as far as I know, I have been. It's terribly difficult to recall things when you were just a little baby.

The City. [that's it, that's his answer. no specification of what city or anything actually helpful.] What about you?

And believe me, this place has definitely seen worse.

The City? Guess the people who named it weren't real creative, huh?

[Not that she can throw shade on his world's city naming habits. Her hometown was literally called Crown City because of the royal family's presence there.]

I'm from Eos. It's a pretty big world with lots of little towns and some big cities.

And what do you mean seen worse? Have you been here awhile?

[okay, that wrings an amused noise out of him.] No, they definitely were not.

[‘crown city’ is still far more descriptive than just ‘the city’ and at least having royalty living there makes sense why it's named the way it is.]

Eos? [is he saying the name right? hopefully so since there are tons of worlds to remember now, klaus sometimes forgets. it helps a little when they're on earth or have something to do with somewhere similar to where he comes from but eos doesn't sound familiar whatsoever.] Sounds nice. Have you done a lot of traveling?

I, uh... have been here since the beginning. There were some crazy bumps in the road.
