Hey guys! So, if I'm still figuring the timing about right, Valentines is coming up! I'm gonna make chocolates!

[No. Not just for his friends from home, either. Knowing Sora he probably faces that same thing with Christmas with wanting to do this for Everyone.......

Someone should really tell him to learn to calm it down. If that's even possible for him.]

Oh, right. Not everyone might get it. But, uh, Valentines is like a celebration of friends! Or more. If you have someone special! You get them flowers or chocolate and show you appreciate them! It's not as huge a thing as Christmas or anything, but. I still like it! And if I make too much chocolate, just means I can save some for later!

[So this is clearly just a win all around, right? Obviously.]

On the other hand, with my training lately, I figured I can do something else too! I don't think Riku was too thrilled though.... but I can help in fights by taking hits for others!

[......this is decidedly probably not something he should seem as thrilled about? But he is anyway. Because of course he is if it means he can help keep his friends safe.]

As... kind as your offer is, I think it might be better to learn to fight for yourself, rather than throw yourself in the path for others.

I can fight! I've kind of done almost nothing but for a while. When I wasn't asleep....

[And Sora is still oblivious on all that, with Castle Oblivion and all. But still.]

Well, I'm not about to not defend myself if I have to.

[But. Well, Turgon does make a good point. With Sora definitely being more vulnerable here in comparison to back home. Without all his usual abilities, summons and spells to access.]

Good. But in battle, half of it is your attitude. You can't go in thinking of yourself as a shield, Sora. A protector, yes, if you want to - having someone at your back to protect is a useful thought. But don't think of yourself as simply a shield. You are worth far more than that.

[He's mostly gone on instinct. And some basics with training with Phil and Merlin. After his years sparring with Riku. He's come a long way since all that but even so. Some things are still new to him sometimes.]

I guess I hadn't thought of it like that.

If you go into a battle not valuing your life, then you are vulnerable. To fight, and do so well, you must accept that you are also worth fighting for. If not, you will endanger yourself unduly, and cause your fellow fighters to worry over you uncessarily.

Vulnerable? I'm already way more vulnerable here.

[Back home he had to start over, sure but one of those times he didn't even really remember the events of Castle Oblivion. And the other times he at least had Donald and Goofy with him. Or Riku. Still, the point about the others worrying for him isn't really something he can ignore, if he tries this and gets too overboard with it.]

I don't want to worry everyone. I just want to help. And this is what I'm figuring, with my powers.

Without our normal abilities we are all so. [ He says soberly, missing deeply the Songs he grew up knowing, the ability to speak to the world around him and ask for help from stone or wind or starlight ]

But if you do not value yourself, you will be reckless in battle, and that will draw danger to both yourself and to those who would seek to defend you in turn. It is one thing to say: 'I will watch your back', and mean 'I will fight beside you, to cover the gaps you miss as you cover the gaps I miss', and another to say 'I will watch your back' and mean 'but I will have no care for mine'. The first is how warriors fight, Sora - you cannot watch everything, after all. But the second is how people die - because if you do not watch your own back, then your companions needs must watch it for you, and then their attention is divided.

I guess. That's true.

[Without their usual abilities. Sora isn't the only one dealing with that. Most everyone was. So of course he gives a nod at that. And as Turgon continues, he listens, tensing a bit more.]

Riku and I trust each other. And I fight with Donald and Goofy all the time back home. I'm sure here too I could figure with others too.

[Sora has faith in Riku and his abilities. He's also aware of how Riku would and has leaped to take hits for him before. So he isn't as sure how this ability of his is much if any different to that. But there might well be something to Turgon's explanation.]

Not that it will stop him back home with what was to come but still.]
