Soooo, that was unpleasant.

[ Crowley is recording while sat at a desk with a few books scattered around. It's clearly Odinhaus, to anyone who has been inside, and also clearly Aziraphale's to anyone who recognises it.

This is not especially a surprise to anyone else who lives there, given that his voice can probably be heard from somewhere in it nearly all the time. ]

Tree thing. Bad tree. Gnome thing, too, very weird -- wouldn't expect that of gnomes, kidnapping people and all. Thought they just hung around in gardens and looked after princesses.

[ Isn't that right? It's possible Crowley's information is, uh, irrelevant. ]

Anyway, speaking of trees -- I did learn something about the other tree. The, uh, main big tree.

[ The name has a lot of letters and he keeps getting it wrong ]

Big, important tree.

[ A sedate, if slightly frustrated background voice says Be clear you're talking about Yggdrasil. It's definitely Aziraphale's voice. ]

Yeah, that one. So, turns out the uh... whole... absorbing you without the bracelets thing might have something to it. Or, at least, the tree definitely does that -- I mean, less absorbing and more... unravelling you, sort of... permanently... from having ever existed. Little bit murkier on if it's definitely connected to the jewellery not being worn, but proving that seems... difficult.

[ 'Hey, do you mind taking off your bracelet to see if you get permanently deleted from history' seems a bit of a hard sell. ]

Anyway, interesting though. Weird, but interesting. Oh! Another thing --

[ Crowley turns his recording so there's a quick pan of some of the tiny room in Odinhaus. ]

Bit pokey, aren't they? These little dorm rooms. Feel like I'm in a budget hostel.

[ It isn't... that bad... ]

Has anyone moved out of these places? Must be other places you can live.

[ Aziraphale's voice pipes up again: Other places you might live where company is allowed overnight, he specifies. Crowley shoots him a slight frown off screen, tries to act relaxed about this correction. ]

Yeah, you know, places you don't get kicked out early.

[ Right. That. ]

[ Peter assumes that the bracelets were taken off at some point and that is bad enough. Askin Odin himself to do such things would have never occurred t him because it's idiotic to the point of being suicidal. Then again, Peter is very familiar with idiotic and reckless things, hasn't done a lot of those in his life and only dying once. ]

ey, I know that voice. [ He's talked to Aziraphale only once but Peter has a good memory for these kind of things. Not so much for names. ] My apologies to your friend then. I didn't knew you were looking for something more formal. Have you known each other for long then?

[ Look, Peter is a sucker for gossip. He can't help it. ]

Maybe you can convince the locals to help you with construction.

[Ah yes. There go the eyebrows.]

Did you try and remove your bracelets, Mr Crowley?

[Is he speaking from first-hand experience, per chance? It rather sounds as though that may be the case...]

The problem is that I don't think there are enough people who know how to build houses. Thus, you wouldn't be able to buy one anyway. Jim is working on a fixing up a small farmhouse for he and I so that we don't have to live on the ship anymore.

Perhaps the natives can be taught construction.

[ Now, listen! You asked how unravelling works, he explained using a scarf metaphor! Nothing in the scarf metaphor indicates he might have taken his off! I mean if he did, wouldn't be here would he! Maybe he read it in a book, you don't know! Why is everyone out to assume he'd act like a desperate fool!

Listen, do these things seem like you can take them off on your own?

[ Not at all. He did not, after all, technically remove his on his own. ]

[ Sounds like something that would take time. Crowley isn't a big fan of waiting. That would mean enduring the current situation longer. ]

[ Maybe he can find a way to con this Jim into doing the same thing for him? ]

[ It's exactly what the people need! Still, at the mention of The Incident Crowley scrunches up his face. ]

Yeah, not convinced by that. Who thinks a good way to get to know anyone is to kidnap them and bury them?

[ To say the least. ]

And I was thinking of that, but they don't do currency here.

[ His face scrunches, annoyed. ]

Harder to bribe people without currency.

[ The only bribe-worthy thing they have is Aziraphale's wine, and that isn't going to anyone else easily. Can't be replacde, after all. Not right now. ]

Then it's good that you were reunited here. Having a familiar face around makes living in the city more bearable Months went by before girlfriend show up here and I didn't even know if I were going to see her again.

They do not but you can try bartering, offering them something different. I'm working with a few of the locals on the Wind farm and they are helping me in exchange for information or advice about technology, and for the sake of learning new things.

[ There's a lot Crowley could say, but instead he keeps making faces. Yes, a familiar face is good -- he'd be uncontrollably miserable without Aziraphale, at least in part because the last time he saw him before here everything was on fire. Skipping over the girlfriend comment.

Not sure on the bartering one. What could he even offer? ]

Don't know a lot about wind farms.

[ Crowley's actual skill list is, uh, very specific. Narrow. ]

[ Peter is used to people reacting weirdly every time he opens his mouth, Crowley making faces at him doesn't particularly bother him. ]

I'm taking care of that, so no need to worry about the Wind Farm. But what did you use to do back home? A friend of mine was teaching the locals how to design clothes, another taught them how to distill alcohol that wasn't wine...sure there must be something you know worth sharing?

[ Crowely, aren't you like, a 6 millennia old...? ]

[ How can he... describe... his job. ]

[ Judging by how she goes quiet for a moment, Chizuru very much agrees with that sentiment.

But with the way she is, she can't help but want to make sure to not judge people too quickly either, so.. ]

Their way of living must be very different than ours. They probably didn't think being buried in the sand was a bad thing.. [ As weird and awful as that sounds. But even she has to concede-- ] They should've asked first though.

Not at all. I would have thought it was impossible to do so, at that.

Which of course, begs the question...?

[He offers rather a direct look, considering they are communicating through video conversation.]

[ Don't be coy if you're going to ask this question he doesn't want to answer! ]

Some might already have some knowledge. It was quite easy to teach them how to farm.

[ Because as if Mary was getting down in dirt to till soil on a daily basis. Hell no. She supervises and lets all the natives do that. They're just thrilled to be helping and learning about being human. ]

[He wasn't trying to be coy, but if you really must have him spell it out for you in so direct a manner...]

It begs the question then of how you came to know these facts, if you were not the one to remove your bracelets.

[His expression pinches, a thought occurring to him, but then again Mr Fell's voice had been audible from the background of Crowley's video so it couldn't have been anything happening to him, could it?]

[ Hang on. ]

Wouldn't have taken you for the farming type.

[ Did she really teach them that? ]

Okay. That's genuinely terrifying.

[ Thank god the bracelets don't just ... come off you.

He won't ask how Crowley found that out. Doesn't seem like something you just ask. ]

Well, Odin and I did have a nice little chat about them.

[ This is also technically true. The technicalities here are endless. ]

[ Crowley lifts one wrist to glance at, eyeing one of the stupid bracelets. ]

Big magic tree, out to make you vanish if you don't dress right.

[ Technically, if these weird gnomes live underground this is entirely true.

Crowley, however, does not feel sympathetic. ]

Oh, they didn't think at all. Watching us for a few minutes would have told them we clearly live above ground.

So.. you think they had bad intentions from the start?

[ It's not as if she can't imagine that kind of scenario. She's seen people back home before who also had bad intentions from the start, after all. But since she prefers to think about things optimistically, the scenario he seems to be thinking of wasn't the first one she assumed. ]

[ Ehhh, well... ]

Might have. Might have just been stupid, too. Lot of really bad things happen due to basic incompetence.

[ .. well, that answer is more unexpected. ]

Really? I.. I didn't think they seemed stupid at all though! [ Then again, she's far too polite to ever call anyone that way. ] Especially since it seemed like everyone could communicate with them just fine after..!

The way they talk about the big magic tree, I don't know if that's ... intentional? I don't know. All this magic stuff is new to me.

[ And sounds like a lot of nonsense. But after seeing a Vault and a Vault Monster with his own eyes, well ... He's started thinking he doesn't actually know anything about the universe. ]

I never really got if the tree's supposed to be sentient or not, actually.
