4th Curious Thought [Video]

[It's late morning when Alice comes on, rubbing her eyes and yawning softly. All three of her kittens are purring and cuddling her, quite happy to see that she's, well, awake.

However, Alice has no idea she's been in a month-long coma. All she knows is that when she looked out the window...]

I beg your pardon, but where has all the snow gone? [A small little yawn.] There was so much of it just yesterday! It was several meters and now it seems to be much less! Which wouldn't be so terribly strange but I've never seen snow melt so quickly! Or do you suppose that that's quite common for Asgardian snow?

[Someone... might need to tell her she's been out of it for a month.]

[ It's by pure luck that Peter is working on the ship instead of in the Wind Farm by the forest when he checks the video. His breath catches in his throat and he's quickly sprinting to Alice's room. Sandy, his familiar, is in the shape of a chipmunk and was sitting on his shoulder when he started running and now has to hang onto his back for dear life so Peter doesn't throw her to the floor. ]

Thank god.[ It's all greeting Alice gets when Peter barges into her room. He quickly reaches towards her and pulls her into a thigh hug. ] I thought you'd never wake up.

[Alice loves hugs, adores them, actually. She loves to cuddle and be cuddled. But this is not an ordinary hug, quite the opposite, in fact. This is one of those scared hugs, the kind of hugs you have after a perilous moment, when you're terrified of not seeing the other ever again, or after some harrowing event where it felt like the only way to stay sane was to cling to another.

It was one of those types of hugs, and Alice had little clue as to why she was getting one. She hugged Peter back, but then his words came and her brows knitted together.]

Never wake up? [She repeated.] What do you mean?

[momsboy]

[ It's this kind of hug, definitely, because Peter has already seen someone he loved very much waste away in a bed already. He didn't want a repeat. He's shaking a little when he pulls away to look at Alice and runs a hand through her hair, brushing it away from her face. ]

You've been sleep for weeks. One day you just wouldn't wake up and we didn't know why. How are you feeling? You haven't drunk or eaten anything for days but your body seemed fine, so we figured it might be some sort of curse.

[madcuriosity]

[As if on cue, Alice's stomach let out a loud growl reminding the both of them that it's empty and has been for a month and she blushed a bright red.]

I suppose I... am a little hungry. But... I didn't know I was asleep for weeks. I'm... I'm sorry for worrying you. I didn't mean to sleep so long. I don't even know how it happened.

[momsboy]

[ It's that sounds, from all things, what finally gets Peter to relax and smile. Alice is fine. Fine and hungry and that is something he can fix. ]

Don't worry, it's not your fault. Let's get to the kitchen too, I'll make something to eat and tell you about what happened while you were sleeping. Do you think you can walk?

[ Sandy, now peeking up from behind Peter's shoulder, makes a small chittering sound as if to say 'hello' to Alice. ]

[Alice waved to Sandy, reaching out to pet her atop her head before turning to Peter.]

I'm... not sure, I don't feel like I can't.

[She's never been in a coma before, she doesn't know what to make of all of it. She had just had a very long dream, is all. She shifted so her feet dangled over the side of the bed, just above her slippers. She wiggled her toes and that felt perfectly fine. One foot in a slipper, then the other and she stood up!

She stood for perhaps a minute or less before her knees promptly gave out and she was back to sitting on the bed.]

Oh... perhaps... we should go slowly.

[keybearing]

Snow? That was -- wait, Alice? Alice! You're awake!

[Because of course he'd been fretting and checking on her when he could. Worried since he had heard about her apparent slumber for far too long. So of course he's relieved and excited to have her back again.]

[madcuriosity]

Well, yes, Sora. But I seemed to have woken up a little later than I'm used to. Why wouldn't I be awake? I just went to bed last night.

[ Sorry, Alice, with everything that has been going on for the past month it's been a little hard to realise that someone may be missing.. Or not awake, in any case. But Alice's message does make it very obvious that the girl is missing some time. ]

Are you.. talking about the snow? But that has already been gone for a month or so now.. [ She may slowly be connecting the puzzle pieces in her mind, but for now Chizuru just sounds kind of unsure. ]

But how could it be gone for a month? It was just... I looked at it just last night.

I'm sorry. This might sound like a really strange question.

[ Especially since Alice is just a kid. But figuring out what's up with her is the most important thing right now and Chizuru knows it. ]

But do you remember almost everyone leaving the city?

[madcuriosity]

Everyone- but we were all just in the palace because of the blizzard, when did everyone leave the city? How could they have possibly left? That's why we had so much snow in the first place.

[keybearing]

You -- huh? Peter didn't tell me yet you were awake last night?

[He's. Pretty sure Peter is aware of their friendship and all and how Sora's kinda felt some sort of responsibility for Alice here. So he'd figure Peter would say something? If not Alice herself like this.]

[tealeafs]

[ Well, that confirms it. Alice for sure is missing some time. Chizuru is quiet for a moment, since she's trying really hard to figure out what the most gentle way might be to break that information to someone so young.. ]

Actually.. that was a while ago. I think you might be missing some memories.. or some time. [ She can't be sure which one it is, since she wasn't aware that Alice was asleep the whole time. ] It's already a month later now.

[momsboy]

[ Sandy answers rubbing her head against Alice's fingers and letting out another chirp.

Peter watches the girl try to stand up, ready to catch her if she falls forward. It goes well at the start and then...oops, np. Peter is tempted to pick her up but she really needs to get used to walking again so he offers his arm instead. ]

We can go slow, just body just needs to get used to moving again. Maybe I should get you a cane, like an old lady. it would be distinguished.

Well, of course, I was awake last night, I was coloring with the new pencils I got for Christmas just the week before and even went to bed a little late.

Why would he tell you I was awake last night? Does he tell you when I go to sleep as well?

[madcuriosity]

How could I be missing memories? I've been asleep. And I didn't miss time, he's not mat at me.

But... what do you mean it's a month later? Christmas was just... just a week or so ago.

[She takes his arm, her legs a bit wobbly and shaking. But by leaning on Peter, she's much more steady. At the mention of a cane, she scrunches her nose.]

I would much rather a parasol, that's much more useful.

[...Right. Obviously no one told her. Duh, Héctor.] Ah, that is--you were asleep for weeks! The snow melted while you were sleeping, that's all. Glad you're back with us. Are you feeling okay?

But... it didn't... feel like I was asleep for weeks. I... how did that even happen?

And... well, I am alright, my legs- that is, my knees, aren't holding me up very well right now, Lord Peter has to help me walk. He teased about getting me a cane.

[keybearing]

It's....been longer than that. He doesn't usually tell me all the time what time you go to sleep or anything. It's just....You were asleep for a while for some reason, so Peter and the rest of us were worried, is all. I'm just glad you're alright now.

[They aren't that fussy? They were just worried when she was asleep for much longer than usual and all.]

[tealeafs]

That's what I'm saying.. it is a month later right now. If you've been asleep, then it can't have been any normal sleep. [ After all, who sleeps for a whole month? ] Then you must've been sleeping all that time..

[momsboy]

You know, I don't think I have any around here. Not a lot of rain in space, you see, so we don't keep any in the ship. But we could get you one. Maybe blue?

[ Once he's sure that Alice has a good hold on his arm, peter starts walking veeery slowly. ]

Do you remember anything about your dream? We talked to you but I wasn't sure if you could hear us at all.

[Gamora is sorry that she isn't home during this. She's gone through cycles of refusing to leave Alice's side and searching helplessly for a way to wake her up. It's in this part of the cycle that Alice returns, of course. That's Gamora's luck in a nutshell.

She doesn't think to complain. The former assassin simply rushes to Alice's side. There's no verbal greeting or an attempt to be stoic and collected. Gamora drops to her knees wherever Alice is, scoops her into her arms, and sobs. She'd been so scared she lost her for good. It's only now she can let herself really express that. Go figure.]

[Alice brightened up at the sight of Gamora, only to become deeply concerned at being hugged so tightly while Gamora sobbed. Oh dear! What had happened?]

Lady Gamora? [She hugged Gamora back, happy to be in her arms. Gamora had much stronger arms than Lord Peter, though Alice never dare mention such a thing.]

Lady Gamora, why are you crying? What's wrong? Are you hurt? [Because Alice most certainly wasn't hurt.]
