[ Rhys has only just stepped out of the castle when he starts the video. There's not much that has changed about him. His hair is slicked slightly more to the side, with a couple of stylish stray hairs hanging down, and the colour of his left eye is golden rather than blue. Closer to his natural eye color, but still obviously different.

If he doesn't look very happy, well, that's because he was in the middle of something. Meaning that, after a lot of time and effort, they finally managed to open the damn vault, but before he got to actually see what was in that big chest, he ended up here. So, yeah, you can bet he's annoyed. All that work and he's left with a cliffhanger, and now it might be months before he finds out! ]

Hi, everyone. Not sure ... I don't know who noticed I was gone, or how long I was gone, or who's still here, but ... I'm back? Rhys. That's my name. I'm-- Uh. So. Slightly disconcerting fact. I went home for ... a while. Like. Months. Thing is, I don't think I remembered ever being here. I'm a little, uh, confused, still. It's like I need to sort out what order everything happened in and who everyone is.

A lot's happened. Not gonna go into that. Just a ... couple of things. Firstly, if Klaus and company are still here and you're still living in that house, I'd love if someone could meet me halfway with a coat or something because I'm dressed for the desert, not this. Secondly, Gaige, if you're still here and willing to talk to me, that'd be ... great. Or I guess you could just cuss me out more, or punch me in the face, or whatever.

Other than that, let me know if I missed anything exciting? Again, no idea how long it's been. Pretty sure it was winter when I was here last but, I dunno, maybe it's been a whole year. Or more.

[ He does one single finger gun, and ends the feed before he starts making his way through Honir district.

[ When she realises he doesn't immediately recognize her, Chizuru looks a little startled herself - she quickly clasps her hand over her mouth, as to keep herself from suddenly saying more while she's still surprised.

Relief dawns on her expression though the moment he recognizes her - along with a faint embarrassed blush as she nods. ]

It's alright, I should have been more careful.. It must be strange to find yourself back here if you have been gone for a whole year. [ There's a slight pause and Chizuru glances away, like she's hesitating about something. But then she decides to just say it anyway, since she's sure he's bound to hear it from someone sooner or later.. ] It hasn't been nearly that long here though.

[ She's still very cute. He still wonders how she's even real. ]

Yeah, I had a feeling. So how long has it been?

I'm not sure.. [ It's not like she sees him every day though. But from what she'd guess.. ]

Maybe about a week or so? I don't think it can have been much longer than that.

Just a week?

[ He stares at her for a moment, baffled, and then shakes his head. ]

I mean, I already knew about time travel and all that but ... It's one thing to know about it and another to actually ... kind of ... experience it?

[ Chizuru nods. She can only imagine how odd that must feel, knowing so little time passed here. ]

Maybe it's not time travel as much as it's just.. the time between these words not being synched up well? Like time passing more slowly here than in other places. [ Someone brought that topic up to her before, really, which is why she mentions it now. It's not something she'd likely think of herself. ] Although I'd rather have it be the other way around..

You don't need to worry about that. Time hadn't passed at all back home. Good thing too, or I would've been really confused since I didn't remember Asgard at all.

Really?!

[ Her voice raises in pitch - and even in volume, which is quite rare for Chizuru. Sure, maybe she's a little too eager to hear that, but it's just really important for her to be able to know that for sure. ]

Is it like that for all of us? It's not just something special about your world?

I mean-- I guess I wouldn't know if it's special for my world, but it's what Honir said would happen if they returned us home so ... I guess I trust him on that now.

.. I really hope that'll be true for all of us then. [ It's no definite confirmation, but probably the closest to that she can get, right? Chizuru clasps her hands together, almost as if she's praying for it to be true. ]

Oh.. Sorry for asking you that though, we should be talking about you right now instead! You don't feel too bad about ending up here after having been able to be home, do you?

[ He laughs quietly, shaking his head a little. ]

No. I feel better about it than last time. I wasn't sure my friends would still be alive when I got back, but everything turned out okay.

That's good. [ Especially since she can imagine it might be frustrating for some people instead to have finally regained their home only to end up here again.. And the irony of it being that they wouldn't realise they even regained anything at all if they didn't remember their stay in this city while back home. ]

And since apparently time stops back home while we're here, it means they will all be right there when you return.

Yeah. Somehow. Kind of a miracle we all got out alive.

[ He rubs his hands over his arms for a moment as the cold starts seeping into his bones, and even shivers a little, but makes no comment about it. ]

[ Chizuru seems to notice the shiver though. And she's too caring to not comment on it, despite it being such a small thing in the end. ]

.. Do you maybe want to go inside? You should drink something warm if you're not used to things being this cold anymore. [ Do they even have seasons in space? Who knows. He wasn't exactly a snow expert before, after all. So probably not. ] I can go with you, if you want. I'd love to listen to stories from your home.

Well, I was on the way to ... home, I guess. It's here in the district. Shouldn't be far. I don't see why you couldn't come? But, uh, I'm not sure you want to hear too much about my home. Most of it just isn't good. I did meet a really cute robot while I was home, though, so I guess I could talk about her.

[ She shakes her head. ]

Don't worry about me. I'm probably used to more than you think. [ Which is actually true for once rather than just Chizuru trying to placate someone.. But on the other hand-- ] If you don't want to talk about the bad things though, then of course that's fine! I'd gladly listen to a story about your cute robot friend.

[ Honestly, if that's the case, that only makes it even stranger to him that she's so optimistic and kind. If she's seen some crap in life.

Maybe that isolated upbringing really did do wonders. And what does that say about the state of the world? ]

Her name's Gortys. She was built to be a ... We've got these things called vaults, which are like alien treasure troves that everyone wants to get their hands on. She was built to open one of those. And she's just ... I don't even know how to explain it. She has a couple of different forms, but her default one is this ... ball, that splits in two, [ he tries to demonstrate by forming a ball with his hands and pulling them apart ] and she has these round plates for ears, and a very .. small face? Wow, I wish I had a picture.

[ That sure is a weird description to try and visualize inside of your head. Especially when you're Chizuru and you're from a time where there's no modern technology yet, let alone robots.. She's just imagining a person curled up into a ball now.

Which is really weird. ]

She sounds like a.. unique person. [ ??? She's trying so hard to be diplomatic here while also being really confused. ] Could she talk with you too?

[ ...yeah, he can see that didn't work. But he just shakes his head. ]

I guess I can't describe her right. But, yeah, she could talk with us. Anyway, she's really happy all the time and seems to just ... want to make friends?

That's sweet..

[ And hey, if apparently being friends with an odd-looking robot is a totally normal thing, then Chizuru can at least accept that idea a little more easily. ]

It must have been nice to have someone like that with you.

It really was. I think it's impossible for her to be anything different, because even after experiencing how terrible people can be on the planet we were on, she never stopped being chipper and positive all the time. Maybe that's actually a little sad, when I think about it? But I hope she's happy.

Maybe she's just really good at looking on the bright side of things. [ It's something Chizuru aspires to be like too, but she knows she often still fails at it. So in her eyes it's actually kind of admirable that Rhys' robot friend manages to be so consistently positive. ]

.. who knows though, maybe she'll show up here too one day. You never know who could appear.

Yeah.

[ A pause. ]

Wonder where the limit goes for how ... sentient something has to be? A robot isn't really life in the same way a human is. They're manufactured rather than, uh, born. But apparently they're alive enough to ... have a soul to tether to a god? Or however that works.

Maybe it's not really about being 'alive' in a human or animal sense, but more just about being able to think for yourself and communicate..? I haven't really seen any animals being pulled into this place, after all.

[ Not in the way they have been, at least. She's not counting all the animals that suddenly arrived all together right before things got really, really weird with the natives trying to sacrifice said animals.. ]

I mean, there aren't just humans here, so what draws you here doesn't seem to mind what you are.

Sure, except I think the gods say that they need to tether our souls, specifically, to them? So we don't get lost, or whatever? It's just weird to me to think that robots might have souls.

[ The way Chizuru suddenly goes quiet after he says that probably says a lot about how little she has considered the concept of a soul before.. ]

Would.. they not have those..? [ The fact that she's questioning that has a lot to do with the fact she's never seen a robot in person. His description just made it sound like an oddly-shaped person! ]
