[Kol is a social creature, and it's easy for him to fall into old habits of many years past and seek out whatever company he can garner. And there's few ways easier to gain company than a party.

He'd adapted rather quickly to 21st century technology upon being undaggered a year ago back in Mystic Falls, and the bracelets aren't so different from the phones there. So it's no time before he's broadcasting to the masses.

He looks at ease, and absolutely pleased about whatever message he's prepared to deliver.]

It's certainly bonfire season, by all accounts, near as I can tell and it's got me thinking-- what sort of family traditions do we all carry with us? And do you personally still put them to practice, without your family around?

[He leans forward, just a bit for emphasis.]

I've got tons, but one in particular for the approaching new year. There's not really a name for it, exactly, it's just a tradition we had growing up and, despite my siblings being absolute prats when I left them, I still rather find myself missing them.

[A clap of his hands and he leans back.]

So, I figure I'll do bonfire wishes when the time comes. It's real simple. Write down a hope or a wish for yourself or your friends for the coming year and burn it for luck. And the rest is just making a party of it to bring in the new year!

If anyone's actually interested in such a celebration... I'll throw something together and let you lot know closer to it. Otherwise, I s'pose it'll just be something I do on my lonesome in Tyr's district.

[There's a shrug at the idea. It's a simple, old Mikaelson family tradition and he won't particularly be fussed if he doesn't get many bites on it. But it would be nice to have something of his own little soirée to look forward to.]

[Ariadne never shows her face on camera. But that somehow doesn't keep her enthusiasm from coming through, all the same.

And she loves traditions. Collects them like other people might collect butterflies or foreign coins. So it's no surprise that she's ready to respond almost immediately.]

What a beautiful tradition! I like it very much! I would love to see something like that, if I might.

[He grins.] Oh, I'm doing it whether anyone else is into it or not, so you're absolutely more than welcome, darling.

["Darling." Again with the casual endearments. It must be a cultural thing and she should be patient with that.

But it still gives her a moment's pause, before she continues.]

Thank you. I'll try not to get in the way.

[He tips his head a bit to the side, curious.] How on earth do you think you'd get in the way?

Oh, I'm very good at it.

[She laughs. A clear, bell-like laugh.]

I have a tendency to get underfoot. Too many questions. Usually at the wrong moment.

How else can you expect to understand things without asking questions? Wouldn't bother me at all, honestly.

[Though he can't imagine anything very confusing about this tradition in particular; it's all rather straightforward.]

You sound a little bit like Odin.

[itchtokill]

Do I? [He sounds a bit shocked at the comparison-- in a pleased way, absolutely, but that had definitely not been at all expected.]

He always encourages me to ask questions. No one else is ever that patient.

Well, if living for a millennia has taught me anything, it's that learning is absolutely important.

[There's a pause. Followed by some surprise in her voice.]

You've lived a millennia?

[itchtokill]

And some change, yeah. [Pause. Head tilt.] Had I really not mentioned it?

A bonfire? I've never been to one before [Being seven does not allow for terribly many life experiences just yet.]! What does one do at a bonfire besides make a wish? Should we bring anything?

Well, you absolutely should come, then, darling. [A small shrug.] Just think of it as a party-- if you want to bring something you can, it's not technically required.

[She's rather young, he isn't sure what to suggest she bring, if he's honest. But he supposes anything she might think up would probably be just fine.]

Well, if it's a party... then it clearly needs tea! Every party needs tea! That's why there are whole parties dedicated to it! [That's logic.]

Tea would be lovely.

Then tea I shall bring, sir! Do you have a favorite sort!

Oh, any will do. Whatever your favorite is.

It depends on what we're having! Not every tea is for every situation, though of course there is a tea for every situation, just not the same one.

We had Yule traditions at home that involved an animal sacrifice and exchanging gifts. Not so different from here when one gets right down to it, although I doubt Odin here would be amused at hearing he was the bearer of presents for small children. [Ivar chuckles before his tone turns wistful and sad.] My brothers and I were always fond of sparring with whatever weapons we got. I always forged them each something in the months leading up to the celebration in my spare time.

[But they hadn't done that in several years, not since a civil war he himself had started that had torn them all apart.]

Where was home for you, mate? [Kol is all too curious. So many of the things he just described are familiar, in a very old sort of way that he hasn't thought much of in years.]

Norway, specifically Kattegat if you know where that is.

[itchtokill]

[A wide grin spreads across his face.] My family was from Norway. I personally wasn't born there, but my siblings in line before me were. [He switches, suddenly, to speaking Old Norse. It's been awhile, but he hasn't forgotten it-- and he supposes this bloke may be the only one in this place that can understand it at all.] I suppose you haven't had anyone around that can speak your native tongue?

You must be close to my time if you can speak the Norse tongue. [There is something that is always comforting for people when they hear someone speaking their native tongue and Ivar is no exception. A happy smile crosses his face, making Ivar look more like a teenager then his usual psychopathic self, before he answers in Old Norse.] It has been a very long time since I had anyone to converse with in this manner.
