Is there anyone here able to play the guitar, possibly read music as well? I received my grandmother's guitar, but I only know a few chords. [Learning to play would also help her feel not so cooped up.] Payment could be in the form of baked goods.

[She wasn't so bored or desperate as to suggest needlework as payment.]

Guitars are also easier to take care than horses. But I imagine you already have experience with that. Whats the horse's name?

Its a fitting name them. I named my new dog Thor because he's also blond and big. Also has no respect for people's boundaries.

I have some other instruments at Tyr house, I asked the god to make me a few time ago, so I can also give you piano lessons if you want.

A piano? That's like a spinet, right? I'd love to learn how to play that.

I do, I learned it ages ago. Music and I just go together. Just let me know what days we are free and we can schedule some sort of classes.

I'll teach you all the classics like "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac.

[ That's a classic in Peter's opinion, all right. And it's actually fairly easy to play on a piano. ]

It certainly couldn't hurt. And bread rolls mostly, or small cakes with dried fruit. [That was the best she could do without anything elaborate.]

It's a fried sort of pastry... it's French, technically.

I've never cooked anything french, but I've deep fried fish before?

I bet you could do it. It wouldn't be too terribly different from making bread. Pastry dough is just a bit lighter, mostly.

But I wish you well in finding someone who can help you. Playing an instrument is a talent.

I would ask why that is, but..suppose it's just the case for some.

It's something to do in this place, and back home I wouldn't be given lessons for atleast another year or so.

The Norse? [The name doesn't ring a bell, even after what she's been allowed to read.] Is that to do with your native country?

[The other question is easier.] I suppose so. My friend's sister has been playing the guitar for a year now, and hopes to gain a suitor that way.

[Which, didn't really make sense to her. She would've hoped to find a match by having a shared interest in exploring or horses.]

That is what my people are called. Others also call Vikings as well. [He nods.] We come from the North. In particular I come from Kattegat in Norway.

[He snickers at the mention of a suitor. That seemed like a foolish plan to him.] Playing music to gain the hand of someone? My, my, what will they think of next?

[She frowned, thinking.] Perhaps I had read something about your country, but not the Norse..Normans, yes, but the Normans come from France.

[She shook her head, regretting that she couldn't learn such things in an organized manner. Then he talks of courting and she can't help but smile.] Perhaps to be charming, I suppose? I never never understood it personally. I would think a possible suitor be more interested in conversation as opposed to singing all day-especially with Annabelle. Her singing would only drive them away.

[Mother and Miss Manderly would say it's wicked to tease, but as Annabelle never missed a chance to make fun of her or Elizabeth, it was fair game.

This is all too true. One should play to their strengths when trying to find a suitable companion, not something that will never end well.
