Video, UN: GallowsCallibrator

[No awful text today. Everyone who decided to engage the troll was going to be spared that, mostly because she wanted clarity and thought this was important enough to really start getting into. The video kicked in, in the common room over at Mimirhaus on a quiet day, now a few days after the celebrations and the first attempts at a barbeque that this place had managed. She was in a black t-shirt with some pants and her blindfold was on, because fuck it. She didn't need it off to talk and she wasn't in the mood to compromise everything for style. Besides, if she was going to talk about justice? Might as well be blind.]

So, everyone get your fill of roasted oinkbeast and moobeast? We get the streets cleaned up of all that nice, sweet cherry smell? Right, lovely. You guys can settle up with Odin about that whenever you feel like. I said my peace.

[Ahem] Thing is, the other night? That totally proved what I've been saying to a few of you. These people? They're really green to the whole idea of 'rules.' And, as much as I love a nice bit of freedom and chaos now and again, there's gotta be some common sense about this. Funny thing about common sense? Totally not common. Totally not the same in different worlds.

I'm pretty sure of something, though. The folks in charge here? They're not setting those rules for the locals, and the locals aren't setting them for themselves. So, guess who's left? [She pointed at the screen and then at herself.] Yep, that's right. Either we come up with something and toss it at Odin and the others, see how they take it, or "Let's all slaughter an oinkbeast cause that sounds fun" over there's going to be the one setting it with whatever great idea flashed between their hear ducts today.

So, we can talk defense. We can talk religion [Her lip curled in distaste at that]. But before this happens again, we need to talk Laws. Preferably now, when it's just a couple moobeasts. I don't pretend Alternian Law's going to be the best way to handle things here. In fact? [snort] Pretty glob-damned sure it won't work here. But some ground rules need to get set, and soon.

That is something I have mixed feelings over. I understand we need to tell these people how to be human but on the other hand it opens the possibility of having far too many people screeching about what is right and not enough saying that we must moderate.

[ He doesn't really flinch at the color or typing quirks, but then again he had to deal with a guy's idea of texting without anything but floaty smoke signals so this is a cake walk. ]

I doubt they would notice but the other humans around here might.

A baseline of where to draw the line I suppose is a good idea. I really have no boat in this race except not liking the mess. I think what may end up getting people annoyed is the idea of having actual rulers to enforce these laws since the gods seem to find everything we do fascinating.

I understand a lot of people do; I find it just messy and that it should be done where it won't splatter over those who are not inclined to be painted in blood.

[ Or those who no longer can get rid of blood stains by waving his hand. Ugh. What a pain. ]

They might. I have yet to make the one to stop wearing his hanfu wrong. But fine. We should settle on some laws. For instance: no murdering people, I guess. Learn animal husbandry.

he wanted to do text, but her texting is unreadable so here he is, just two eyes poking out of a hood in front of the dim backdrop of asgard's forest.

What makes you think they'll listen?

Yes. That one.

I find it rather a given. I get why they think it's such a big thing but in all honesty murder isn't as cut and dried as people think it is.

I meant the people. ❰ but he's just clarifying - she already answered either way. the natives do seem to follow whatever the gods seem to want.

Do you have a plan? Or are you just the one who tells people they need a plan? ❰ it's a little dry, but more in the vein of flat-toned sass than criticism.

[ UNSURE ... ]

Why don't we just ... bring that idea to the natives? We're just temporary citizens. If there are going to be any laws, they should be the ones who make them. Obviously we can help them with the talks, but ultimately ...

Okay, cool. For a bit there it just sounded like you suggested we leave them out of it completely. And, I don't know, this is a thing people used to do, even if they got a bit overexcited. It was a bit messy - or a lot messy - but still very ... What's the word?

[ He scrunches his face in thought. ]

Purposeful? They probably thought and talked about it extensively before they actually went through with it.

We have a law that states that we do not kill in theory, but in actually it's not used much save for when someone angers Hei Pao Shi or Gui Mian. Our powers manifest in such odd ways and our environment is too harsh to be worried about killing each other as much as humans are.

They are so spoiled.

I think that we need humans to talk about their laws here. We don't have the understanding as what they consider right or not.

( He's gone through the other comments too, taking in every thing. Society is...really complex. Or maybe the problem is that he's never been aware of what makes up one, just taken advantage of the fact he's just been born into pre-set civilization. )

What do you think happens if the natives don't want to adhere to any laws? Or the Gods don't seem interested in implementing them?

Not to mention how long it could take. If people want to come up with laws, what do we do in the meantime?

Considering quite a few things at home generally warrant murder if committed, and the soft hearts around here won't even allow a few animals to be slaughtered, they very likely will say no to such an idea as well.

[He sounds quite surly about that idea probably being shot down as soon as it's introduced. Sometimes, murder really is the best policy.]

I wonder, if we should ask Odin about that. Perhaps they have laws of their own...

We should do that. The question we have to answer now would be how we will get the rest of the idiots to sit down with us and discuss the rules we want to bring to the gods of this place. So far, it looks like these people aren't the most pro-active about it.
